Want to block Windows updates that trigger issues? This is an MS tool that allows you to check what updates are pending and hide Windows updates you don’t want to install (driver updates, for example). Run wushowhide by double clicking on it, then click on “Advanced” then uncheck the box to “apply repairs automatically.” Click next and the tool will then search your system for pending updates. Click the Hide Updates to hide a specific update. You can hide or unhide updates.
Wushowhide uses the Windows Update Service to search for updates and will not run if the Service is Disabled. When you hide updates, you may have to clear the Windows Update queue in order to prevent hidden upates still appearing in the Windows Update queue from installing. Instructions for clearing the Windows Update queue are found in AKB2000013. After clearing the Update queue, you may have to wait until Windows Update checks for updates again (DO NOT click on “Check for updates”).
Want to install any hidden updates at a later time? Hidden updates (like hidden updates in Win7/8.1) will not show up in the pending updates. You must use this tool to “unhide” the updates to be able to install them.

Another optional tool is the Windows Update mini tool. It also exposes the ability to hide a troublesome update. Download the WUMT.ZIP file and click on extract all. Open the resulting wumt folder and click on WUMT_X64.exe. You may need to click through the Windows smart screen warning as the file is unsigned. Click the "sync" button to review for updates and then use the "hide update" (far icon in the left column) to hide the update.
WuMgr is third-party software created by David Xanatos and performs Windows Update Management. It is another alternate method for Windows update operations and allows you to hide troublesome updates.
